Mannin Quilters 21st Birthday quilt 1990-2011


This quilt was designed and assembled by Kelly Brindley using Manx tartan to celebrate the colours of the Isle of Man.





The embroideries were mainly drawn by Kelly Brindley, Celia Kay, Chris Eastham with contributions from other members and embroidered by members in yellow for the gorse, blue for the sea and purple for the heather on a white background for the Manx Cottages.





The embroidery depicts Island life, culture and scenery with images of :- Mannin Quilters badge, Map of the Isle of Man, Tynwald Hill, Bradda Head, Calf of Man, Peel Castle, Point of Ayre Lighthouse, Jubilee Clock, Monks Bridge, Camera Obscura, Laxey Wheel, Legislative Building, Castle Rushen, St Trinians, Old Parliament building, Tower of Refuge, Harry Kelly’s cottage, Loaghtan sheep, Manx cat, Herring, Horse Tram, TT motor bikes, Lifeboat, Manx Nobby, Viking Longboat, Odin’s Raven, Sea Terminal, Steam Train, Primroses, Fuchsia, Queenies and Crab, View coming down the mountain towards Ramsey, Celtic Crosses and Knots
